Welcome to the world of Stradbroke Weddings! My name is Jeannie and I have owned and operated Stradbroke Weddings for ten years. I hope you will take a few moments to read about me and my business and how I can assist you to create the most beautiful and magical day of your life in one of the world’s most beautiful settings!
Stradbroke Weddings is a family owned business and from its’ inception, it has had one goal; To create easy, stress-free weddings and events thatour clients and their guests simply adore! Whatever your wish; be it a simple elopement, family gathering or an extravagant marquee celebration, we’ve made it happen on the Island and we can make it happen for you!!
After ten years, there’s a lot of history to tell, but here is just a small snapshot of my business: I began Stradbroke Weddings in 2002 when there was only the occasional wedding on the Island and wedding planning was a new idea to Australia. Having grown up just across the bay at Victoria Point, I moved to the Island in 2002 to begin Stradbroke Weddings. Growing up, family holidays were spent on the Island and my love affair with this special place has enriched my family for almost 50 years. I guess you could say I’ve been a ‘Straddie’ local for most of my life and I feel very privileged that my children have grown up in the wonderful world of weddings and events, and more importantly, in the beautiful natural environment of the Island. Now grown, they continue to be involved in the business and work with me, and, together with the locals we employ, we continue to create the beautiful and seamless events for which Stradbroke Weddings has become known.
Over the first few years of beginning Stradbroke Weddings I worked hard to develop a wedding industry on the Island, advertising all over the world and spreading the word near and far, even when many others had little faith that it could ever become the thriving industry it is today. Like anyone who makes their dream a reality, I never let the ‘nay-sayers’ hold me back! I knew my dream would happen and the many weddings that take place on the Island today are testament to that belief. Like they say; “Success is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration” and I have been fortunate that the 99% hard work has paid off, with so many couples choosing North Stradbroke Island for their marriage celebration.
I have also been fortunate to have my hard work recognised many times over with awards, not only at local, but also at State and National levels, for having been instrumental in creating the wedding industry that exists on the Island today. Sure, the awards and accolades are a great feeling, but the best reward is seeing couples and their guests, many who travel from the far reaches of the globe, having the time of their lives at one of our weddings. I can’t count the number of times couples have told me that it was the BEST day of their lives and that their guests said it was the most fantastic wedding they have ever attended. All in a day’s work!
My clients have not only enjoyed gorgeous, stress-free weddings and become part of the family as their wedding plans unfold, many have remained in contact with me even years later, keeping me up to date with the comings and goings of their lives. I love that about my business!

Since our office was destroyed by arson, we are currently operating from an office on the mainland but don’t let that fool you... Stradbroke Weddings is and always has been an exclusively local, Island-based business. During the years, we have also always maintained a mainland office for the convenience of our clients, so not a lot has changed. And for those of you who miss our little Island shop (we know we do!), we aim to rebuild our office on the Island within the coming twelve months. In the meantime, none of our clients will be disadvantaged by the temporary absence of our Island office, either logistically or financially, so come and meet with us on the mainland, as always, to discuss your needs in a warm, friendly and casual atmosphere.
