When Sarah and Mark married in June they decided on a cliff top ceremony with a formal, vintage-inspired reception for around 100 of their family and friends.

As busy professionals, Sarah & Mark engaged Stradbroke Weddings to assist with various aspects of their planning, including decorating on the day and managing both the ceremony and reception. As time wore on and Sarah & Mark experienced the ease with which their planning evolved with Stradbroke Weddings, they engaged us to assist them with even more services and we were happy to oblige.

One of the great aspects of our job is seeing all our hard work and meticulous planning come together on the day. It’s a very satisfying part of our work and Sarah and Mark’s day was gorgeous from beginning to end.

Sarah wore a simple, elegant 30’s inspired gown and her bridesmaids were dressed in deep violet. Sarah engaged our award winning floristry service to provide simple posies of white Oriental Lilies to her bridal party.

Married on the cliffs overlooking Main Beach, Sarah & Mark chose our original vine pagoda design accented with white Lilies to match the bridal bouquets. Our team installed dramatic decorations in their reception room which included gathered ceiling drapes finished with black satin ribbons, thousands of fairy lights, candles and a vintage style Moroccan chandelier.

Tall vases brimming with white Lilies, Orchids and fern were placed on mirrors on each table to double the effect of the flowers and candles. Word quickly spread on the Island as we were putting the finishing touches to our decorations and we had people popping into the venue all day to see the “gorgeous decorations” they had heard about.

Needless to say, Sarah & Mark were thrilled when they finally made their grand entrance into the room after returning from photographs on the beach. Stradbroke Weddings provided the music for the night with one of our exclusive DJs and when the reception finished at midnight, guests had the next morning’s recovery breakfast to look forward to on the beach.

Unfortunately, the day dawned stormy, so we reverted to our plan ‘b’ (we always have one!) and held the breakfast indoors. Guests enjoyed a buffet breakfast while reliving the festivities of the night before and many indulged in a second helping of wedding cake and champagne before proceeding to the beach for a game of footy and further picnicking once the weather decided to cooperate.

Many of Sarah & Marks guests approached us throughout the reception and thanked us for a beautiful day, commenting that it was the best wedding they had ever attended and Sarah and Mark said that they couldn’t believe how beautiful everything was and how smoothly and effortlessly everything ran throughout the entire day.

Having a great day is all about meticulous planning, having a team for professional suppliers and experienced management on the day to take the stress away from you and your friends and family. We’re pleased to have been part of yet another successful, Stradbroke Wedding!

When Helen & Stephen told us they wanted to hold a marquee reception on a headland at Point Lookout and were flexible about the date, there was no question; they must time it with the full moon!

And so began the story of how a marquee wedding was arranged on a headland overlooking a full moon rising from the ocean.

For their ceremony, Helen and Stephen chose South Gorge beach as the perfect backdrop for the beginning of their celebration. A simple installation of market umbrellas and white Americana chairs supplied by Stradbroke Party Hire provided an intimate setting as Helen and Stephen exchanged their ‘I-dos’.

After the official proceedings, it was time to celebrate as guests were led back to the cliff top marquee by Helen’s pied-piper uncle as he played the fiddle. Back at the marquee guests sipped champagne and enjoyed gourmet canapés while they waited for the arrival of the bride and groom. With a spectacular full moon rise in the offing, we couldn’t really blame the Bliss photography girls for absconding with the bride and groom to keep them a little longer on the cliffs! The photos proved well worth the wait for the happy couple’s return.

Bridal bouquets and table flowers were supplied by Stradbroke Flowers and featured bouquets of soft ivory Roses and pale pink and lilac Freesias. The scent was nothing short of divine! Mirrors on tables reflected the multitude of candles and bunches of flowers on each table and soft pink lights surrounded the dance floor, lending a soft glow to the entire marquee. Rice paper tea light lanterns lit the path to the amenities and around the perimeter of the marquee.

Bar staff served champagne and a selection of drinks chosen by the clients to guests at their tables. The menu featured a fresh gourmet BBQ buffet with a selection of French desserts and wedding cake served with fresh brewed coffee and tea. – all in a remote location! How good is our team!! A big thank you to all our providers who made Helen & Stephen’s wedding such a success!

Beach marquee style

When Hannah and Adrian decided to tie the knot, they were sure of what they wanted… a simple marquee wedding on the beach at Stradbroke Island. Living in the Northern Territory at the time of their decision, their first port of call was Stradbroke Weddings.

Stradbroke Weddings assisted them to find the perfect location and sourced their marquee, saving them thousands off the normal cost of the structure and delivery. We also assisted them to source and book a caterer, bar staff, organise all hire equipment, book Council and security and a myriad of other services, including decorations and flowers.

Despite weather concerns, the day dawned sunny as Stradbroke Weddings made finishing touches to the marquee, flowers and decorations. Hannah and Adrian chose a simple, cocktail style reception. Small tables dressed with white linen and white chairs were placed inside the marquee and a collection of small vases containing Roses and silver twigs and sea shell tea light holders sparkled on each table.

White ottomans and low coffee tables with candles formed a ‘chill out’ area outside the marquee which was bordered by large white feather banners. Guests dined early in the evening on a selection of freshly made canapés while a late night delivery of gourmet pizzas arranged by Stradbroke Weddings and delivered to the marquee, staved off any late night munchies for guests.

A high tide was expected on the night and we had consulted extensively with our marquee provider as to the level of water we could expect and the marquee’s position and we knew that all would be well. When the tide did reach its’ peak, guests were treated to a wave washing up to almost the entrance of the marquee which only added to the fun of the night!

Said Hannah after the event, “Adrian and I had such a wonderful day. Your coordination and organisation was fantastic. Thank you for all your efforts. Everybody came up to me and said “This is the BEST wedding I have ever been too” And they truly meant it”

Sunny Roses

When Kara & Dave recently tied the knot at South Gorge beach, it was touch and go as to whether they would be able to hold their nuptials outside. South East Queensland had been hit by a deluge with flooding rain spreading up the Northern coast of New South Wales and into Queensland in the days preceding their wedding. Fingers were crossed for clear skies!

Stradbroke Weddings were engaged to coordinate Kara & Dave’s wedding ceremony, so they knew that no matter what the weather, their cermeony would be managed and all they needed to do was arrive on time. Many a phone call went back and forth as our staff checked satellites and forecasts, all the while gazing studiously at the heavens. Although the weather report indicated a 90% chance of rain, when the final decision needed to be made, Kara & Dave were ready to take the risk and it was all systems go for the beach! And we took along our big white golf umbrellas just in case!

As the afternoon progressed, the sun shone down and any hint of rain vanished into the blue; it turned out to be the most perfect afternoon and the ceremony went ahead as planned on the beach. Our team found just the perfect spot right by the tide’s edge on the beach. As the tide washed up to the vine pagoda installed at their ceremony site, the bridal party entered the beach wearing yellow and ivory and carrying beautiful bouquets of yellow and ivory Roses supplied by Stradbroke Flowers.

Stradbroke Weddings and Stradbroke Party Hire installed yellow and white rice paper lanterns in Kara & Dave’s reception room with mirrors on all the tables reflecting candles and vases filled with yellow and ivory Roses. Guests danced the night away to music supplied by one of Stradbroke Weddings exclusive DJs and a fantastic night was had by all… and the rain? Well, it was nowhere to be seen!

Lavender and white was the theme for Amanda and Matthew’s recent wedding at Point Lookout. They chose the Main Beach cifftops for their ceremony but as breezes picked up on the Southern side of the Point a change of venue was necissitated and Stradbroke Weddings swung into action to install their beautiful ceremony decorations at Deadman’s Reserve where the weather was calm.

Stradbroke Weddings’ Coordination services on the day meant that Amanda & Matthew had nothing to worry about as all service providers were contacted regarding the change of venue and our coorindator was there to greet guests and ensure all ran smoothly. Vine arches accented with lavender and white flowers formed the aisle to the ceremony site where Amanda & Matthew stood on a carpet of thousands of Rose petals.

Amanda and Matthew chose the gorgeous Stradbroke Hotel for their reception with the lavender and white theme carried through to the decorations installed in the room by Stradbroke Weddings. Tall vases filled with white Lilies and lavender crystals were illuminated from beneath while chairs and tables were draped in lavender and white linen. As night fell, hundreds of candles twinkled in the room and Amanda and Matthew cut their cake beneath a twinkling arch of white and lavender flowers.

Stradbroke Flowers supplied Amanda’s fresh Bridal flowers which featured a cascading teardrop bouquet of lavender and white with matching natural-stem posies for her Bridesmaids.
