History
Established in 2002 by Director, Jeannie Sheppard, Stradbroke Weddings is North Stradbroke Island’s only complete wedding and event styling and coordination service.
Growing up in the ‘Redlands’ area just across the Bay from North Stradbroke Island, Jeannie has been a regular visitor to the Island since 1972.
It was her love for the natural beauty of the Island which resulted in Jeannie’s decision to move to North Stradbroke and begin Stradbroke Weddings, so that others might celebrate one of the happiest of life’s occasions on one of the most beautiful islands in the world.
A multi-award winning business, Stradbroke Weddings has quickly become one of Australia’s premier wedding and event styling and coordination companies. Jeannie and the Stradbroke Weddings’ team have styled, coordinated and assisted to plan hundreds of gorgeous weddings and events on the Island during those seven years, and look forward to many more years of sharing the Island’s natural wonders with clients and their guests from all over the world.
In 2003, Stradbroke Party Hire and Stradbroke Flowers were established under the umbrella of Stradbroke Weddings, making Stradbroke Weddings truly, a complete event service.
In addition to our Island office, in 2006, recognising the need for clients to meet with coordinators without necessarily travelling to the Island, Stradbroke Weddings established in inner Brisbane where staff are available for consultations. In addition, due to overwhelming demand, wedding and event services are now available to couples and corporate clients within the Brisbane region.
In 2007 Stradbroke Weddings was proud to become a fundraising supporter of the National Breast Cancer foundation to assist with their life-saving work. In addition, in what we believe to be a world first, Stradbroke Weddings began offering our clients carbon-neutral weddings and undertook to achieve carbon neutral office operations.
2008 Saw the launch of our much-anticipated ‘Wild Weddings’ Elopement and Proposal adventures which allow couples to escape the stresses of a large event and run away to paradise. For more information, just click on the Wild Weddings logo on our home page.
Our Philosophy
Stradbroke Weddings has achieved a reputation for excellence through a strong focus on integrity and clear communication.
We understand that an event needs to be as individual as our client and that a wedding is not just about one day, it is the beginning of a marriage and partnership in life.
We therefore respect and support our client’s rights to individuality, creativity, privacy and financial control over the entire process of planning and coordinating their wedding or event.
Environment Policy
Stradbroke Weddings recognises that it is the Island’s natural beauty which makes it the perfect place to celebrate a wedding or event. The majority of our staff live on the Island and also have a personal desire to ensure the Island’s environs are cared for appropriately.
Therefore, we are committed to creating low impact, environmentally friendly events. This includes meticulous cleaning of areas after events, recycling of glass, paper and plastics wherever possible, daily checks of beaches used for marquees after the event and metal scanning of the area post-event.
Our policy also extends to bans on the following products which resist biodegradation and can harm sea life, including turtles, which inhabit the waters around North Stradbroke Island and nest on the Island’s beaches; balloons, metal tables scatters, plastic serving items wherever possible, plastic bags except for those used in rubbish disposal and all confetti with the exception of flower petals.
Stradbroke Weddings is proud of its excellent record with local Council in maintaining sites used for weddings and events and has the support of the Island’s Sustainable Tourism Committee. Stradbroke Weddings is currently undertaking green-accreditation.
In June 2008, Stradbroke Weddings celebrated its first year as a carbon neutral business – a world first! In addition, we are also proud to offer our clients the opportunity to host a carbon neutral wedding.
